About Barbara Humphreys...

Barbara Dawn Guthrie Humphreys is second generation removed from the Outer Banks of NC. She grew up listening to her great grandparents stories, in the "Brogue" dialect, of shipwrecks and rescues, pirates, whalers, lighthouses, great Atlantic storms and a migration to the mainland.

Barbara nostalgically writes about the neighborhood in which she grew up, The Promise Land, on the shores of Bogue Sound in Morehead City, NC. The examples of courage and compassion of the mothers in the Promise Land influenced Barbara through out her life.

Barbara enjoys crocheting and sends dozens of baby blankets to her favorite charity, Newborns in Need. She is addicted to Wordle, and MUST solve the daily word challenge everyday.

The author resides in Morehead City, NC with her husband Barry and together they have two sons and a daughter. She openly admits her two granddaughters are beautiful and brilliant, and the joy of her life.
